Today is Emily Bronte’s 190th birthday. Eldest of the Bronte sisters, writing under pen name Ellis Bell, a poem for her sister’s book:

Reading this reminded me of Fox/Gimbel’s Killing Me Softly With His Song. The story behind the song was quite surprising to me. Who’d have known the fingers that strummed Lori Lieberman’s pain were of Don McLean’s!
