I was invited to go check out The Relyx (formerly Triggerlust) last month at the Santos Party House in NYC. Month before that, I’d interviewed the band’s guitarist, Jeremiah Furr, for my newly minted blog. He’s an extremely cool guy and was a blast to interview. Naturally, I needed some footage of him playing with his band. By the time I was invited to the show, the band signed up with a new management, who made sure I was made welcome at the show.

The band kicked ass! I’m working on some video I shot of the show as well as the after-concert interview the guys gave me. Funny, cool, and an intelligent pack. When you meet them, you’ll agree.

My favorite Beatle has a new album coming out, Electric Arguments, under his side project group, The Fireman. Telegraph talks to Sir Paul and links to a free mp3. Only McCartney can record an album the way he has this one. I personally love the thrill of going into a project without knowing what the outcome would be – given the restrictions. I’d done that with a short film of mine three years ago. It tests you and, frankly, is liberating.

An excerpt from the Telegraph piece:

The 13 songs were each written and recorded in a day, with McCartney playing instruments and Youth manning the recording desk. The idea of singing vocal lines was a spontaneous one, with the result that McCartney had to make up lyrics on the spot.

Rick Landers interviews Slash. Good interview. In response to a question about his upcoming album:

The plan at this point is where I’m just using different singers for every song. So it’ll probably be…if there are 12 songs, there will be 12 singers, put it that way.

I understand all of your frustration and anger, and I never meant to let any of you down. Your support for Scars has been so important to me and the band. I would never cancel a tour unless I had real reasons and personal things that require my undivided attention. The music of Scars will live on, but now is a time when aspects of my life need to be tended to. I hope all of you can understand.

Have been miserable searching for a theme I’d use for this blog. Nothing worked. I needed lot more flexibility and I needed something clean, simple, and easy to deal with. As is often the case, my good friend Nicole came to the rescue when I’d mentioned my frustration with the search. She forwarded me to Chris Pearson’s new theme, Thesis.

And…krriinggg! All the bells rang and all the King’s horses ran wildly across the land. I can customize the hell out of this theme…and Chris would be first person to encourage you to do so.

So, all this means is this…I’m one step closer to re-launching the site and proceed onward and upward. A little bit more time is all I need.

So, in order to properly do justice to the wiiiide 560px post space I’ve stretched this out to, I’m finally going to be able to post 16:9 videos like there’s no tomorrow. Off to Vimeo!!
