Coleman MellettHe’d have played guitar at Kleinhan’s Music Hall with the Chuck Mangione and the Buffalo Philharmonic on Feb 13, and more would have followed, including a solo performance in Madison, NJ on the 17th.

Sadly, Coleman was on Continental Flight 3407.  If you get a chance, check out his music and leave a comment. It’s bizarre looking through his photographs and captions. Most of his pictures have him with a big smile. The one on the left has the caption “Doubling – do I get scale and a half for this?”

Coleman was on board with band mate Gerry Niewood, a talented multi-instrumentalist. This photo has the caption “I could never get him to play the piano…” That’s his son, Adam.

I know, so sad. It’s hard to imagine that it happened just 45 min from where I grew up. I almost started crying when I read the list of people. It just makes it even worse when you see in print how routine and regular this flight was- just regular people going to buffalo to visit family and friends, play music or coming back from a business trip. Such a tragic loss.
