Central Park Summerstage: Matisyahu

Within a very short time after I’d found Matisyahu, couple of years ago, I went on a heavy loop with ‘King Without a Crown.’ But it was ‘Indestructible’ that I was obsessed with. Some songs come to you at the right stage of your life, sit next to you, put their arms around you and say ‘I get it.’ Don’t great songs always do that? No shit, you say. That song, for a brief period of time, became a necessity every morning as I commuted to work. Long story short, my state of mind needed a ‘prayer song’ and ‘Indestructible’ gave me that. I’m not religious at all and it was probably the bass-line that had me hooked.

His performance I’d heard a lot about, but to experience it is always a different story. How several influences come together and interact live. Out of all the concerts I’ve photographed/covered this past year, Matisyahu has been the sole stage diver. :)

I also had the great pleasure of getting a few minutes of guitarist Aaron Dugan’s time before the band took stage. Watch that interview after the photos.
