Back in April I was invited by Danny Erker to a rehearsal session of Jones Street Station in Brooklyn. I’d seen them at a show a few weeks before and wanted to do a profile on the band. Before that a meeting was scheduled where I’d get to interview him and Walt Wells for my blog. Everyone in the band gave me a warm welcome and I had two great interviews and got to record video of the band rehearsing. This would be the first time I’d record video with my Mark II.
4 months later, and after numerous mishaps with the footage I shot that month, the videos and photos are finally here. Two things came out of the issues I’ve had: I have better videos and this series of photos you are about to see, would have not been in black and white.
The band has since gone on a long tour with Ben Kweller, finished their album and now gearing up to play at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Bandshell tomorrow evening. If it’s the one concert you can see for Celebrate Brooklyn, make it this one. You will not regret it. I promise you. And I won’t have to persuade you the combined talent and energy this band brings out in their music, performance and recordings. When you watch both interviews with Walt and Danny, you’ll see what I mean.
You’ll have to wait till tomorrow for the short doc of the band’s rehearsal. This is the preview, if you were wondering.
Again, go see them tomorrow. Just fucking do it. Some day you’ll have to do a lot more to catch them live.
