Originally intended to be an electric/acoustic side project, Coheed and Cambria is currently touring with Heaven & Hell, billed as special guests, not opening acts.
If you’re completely new to the band, a little intro course to the band, via Wikipedia, of course, takes us back to frontman Claudio Sanchez’s science fiction/comic book series The Amory Wars, and its main character Claudio Kilgannon, son of Coheed Kilgannon and Cambria Kilgannon, who faces a series of events to face his destiny. And the man who stands between them.
All Coheed and Cambria albums are concept albums based on The Amory Wars. Each album is a chapter of the series in album format, if you will. At the end of 2008, the band played 16 shows, four shows each, in NY, LA, Chicago, and London performing all four albums of the series in sequence.
The result is a CD/DVD package called, Neverender.
As I understand, Coheed and Cambria is working on a prequel to the series. The photos are from the first 3 songs of the concert, so didn’t get to capture Sanchez’s Theremin action. I didn’t know they’d recorded Iron Maiden’s The Trooper for a tribute album, but was mighty happy when they played it last night.
