The Deer Hunter is one of my favorite films. The Russian Roulette scene, I don’t have to convince you, is one of the best captured on film.

The film was also blessed with one of the most beautiful guitar pieces as its theme, Stanley Myers‘s ‘Cavatina.’ Played by John Williams, it is heartbreak, joy, and nostalgia all packed into one. I was so happy to find a clip of Williams playing Cavatina that I had to post it.

I didn’t know until now that Myers died exactly 15 years ago today. Well, can’t think of a better tribute to him for writing an evergreen piece.

Pretty solid piece of classical guitar music. Fairly difficult in some parts!
